What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that uses tiny needles to stimulate collagen production. We usually use it for fine lines, moderate wrinkles and acne scars. But it can also help correct a wide range of other skin issues, such as enlarged pores.

The FDA has approved several devices for microneedling, the first being SkinPen®. This tried and true medical-grade microneedling device is available through skincare professionals only. The device is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of neck wrinkles and acne scars.

SkinPen® consists of a pen-shaped handpiece and needle cartridge. The cartridge contains high-quality needles for maximum precision. The cartridges are single use, and the skin pen is wrapped in a disposable protective sleeve with every use to ensure maximum safety.

What Is Microneedling With Exosomes?

How Microneedling Works

Pricking the skin with needles to make it look youthful may sound strange, but it works. Microneedling works similarly to other non-surgical rejuvenation procedures: causing micro-injury to the skin to trigger collagen production.

The needles used for microneedling range in length from 0.5 mm to 3.5 mm. That’s because skin is of different thickness at different sites. But it’s also because different skin concerns require different depths of penetration.

When we upgrade the microneedling procedure with exosomes, we apply a high-quality exosome serum across the treatment area. The concentrated growth factors and proteins found in the exosomes penetrate deeply into the skin through the micro-channels created by microneedling.

While microneedling does require injuring the skin, the procedure is nearly painless and requires no downtime. Clients usually need at least three sessions, spaced 30 days apart, to improve the appearance of wrinkles. For scar reduction, six sessions may be necessary. Once your treatment is complete, you can expect to see your results within six weeks and enjoy them for at least six months.

When performed properly, microneedling is safe. We use sterile, single-use equipment during this procedure to prevent infections. We also check your and your skin’s health before performing this procedure to maximize safety.

How do I prepare for microneedling?

You want to make sure your skin is calm and infection-free before your treatment. We recommend avoiding sun exposure, harsh exfoliants, chemical peels and electrolysis for two weeks before treatment.

What should I do after microneedling?

Microneedling requires no active downtime, but you will want to avoid sun exposure and harsh products for up to a week post-treatment. Your skin may be mildly red and tender in the days following treatment, so make sure to use gentle cleansers and other products.

How much does microneedling cost?

Microneedling costs less than most other procedures. The costs depend on the size of the treatment area and the number of sessions required. We will provide you with the total cost of your treatment during your initial consultation.

Is microneedling safe for dark skin?
