JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE® XC is a type of injectable treatment called a dermal filler. More specifically, it is a hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler gel developed by Allergan Aesthetics. Allergen’s JUVÉDERM® line includes a range of HA dermal fillers with different effects. Each JUVÉDERM® filler is uniquely formulated. VOLLURE® XC uses proprietary Vycross® technology, which creates light but highly stabilized dermal fillers. The Treatment

This is a minimally invasive treatment that requires little to no preparation. We can usually perform the injections at the same appointment as the consultation. Your injector will carefully examine your skin and review your medical history to see if this treatment is for you.

Once you are ready, your injector will start by cleansing your skin and applying a numbing cream. They will then carefully inject JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE® XC right underneath the skin where you want to diminish wrinkles. Your injector will gently massage the product into the skin to help it settle. You will not feel pain as this product contains lidocaine, which is a local anesthetic.

A typical JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE® XC treatment takes about one hour to complete, including numbing. You can resume your daily routine right away. However, we do advise patients to avoid activities that can raise their body temperature and blood pressure for the first 24 hours.

The Results

Immediately after you receive JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE® XC, you will see an improvement in your wrinkles, cheek volume and cheek definition. The gel formula of this product adds instant volume underneath the skin However, the product will take time to settle into the skin fully — about 10 to 14 days.

As VOLLURE® XC settles, the HA molecules will retain more water. This will give your skin a hydrated and smooth appearance, with a noticeable but natural-looking reduction in fine lines and wrinkles. There is also evidence that HA fillers boost collagen production, which can further contribute to wrinkle reduction. What should I avoid before/after getting JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE® XC?

For a period before your injections are scheduled to take place, try to avoid alcohol, NSAIDs and blood-thinning supplements to minimize your risk of bleeding and bruising. Immediately after treatment, avoid rubbing the treatment area, strenuous exercise, hot showers, saunas, direct sun exposure and anything that can increase blood flow to your face. This helps prevent migration and degradation of the filler.

How long does it take for JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE® XC to settle?

This injectable takes about 10 days to two weeks to settle into the skin. You may notice mild swelling and firmness in the treatment site, which is normal and should resolve once the product has fully settled.
